Park fees
National park and reserve entry fees, by category and season.
Park fees are per-person, per-day government charges to enter a national park, reserve, or conservation area. They are usually the largest non-accommodation line on a safari quote.
Park entries
Each park has:
- Name. "Serengeti", "Ngorongoro Crater", "Lake Manyara", "Maasai Mara National Reserve", etc.
- Country. For multi-country operators.
- Default residency category. Usually "Non-resident adult".
- Notes. Internal.
Fee rows
For each park, you add rate rows by:
- Season. Optional. If left blank, the rate applies year-round.
- Residency category. One of:
- Non-resident adult
- Non-resident child
- East African resident adult
- East African resident child
- Citizen adult
- Citizen child
- Rate. Per-person, per-day.
- Currency. Often USD for non-resident, local currency for residents/citizens.
The pricing engine picks the right row based on:
- The park visited that day.
- The pax's residency category (set on the trip).
- The day's season.
Ancillary park charges
In addition to the per-person entry fee, some parks charge:
- Concession fees (per-room or per-vehicle, per night) for lodging inside the park.
- Camping fees (per-person, per-night) for mobile camps.
- Vehicle entry fees (per-vehicle, per-day or once per visit).
- Crater service fees (Ngorongoro-specific).
Add these in the Ancillary section of each park. Each ancillary has its own charge basis:
- Per vehicle per day
- Per vehicle once per visit
- Per person per night
- Per room per night
The pricing engine applies them automatically based on the day's accommodation and vehicle.
Pre-seeded parks
When you sign up and pick a country, Ratiba pre-loads the major parks for that country (Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe). Rates are not pre-loaded because they change yearly and vary by operator agreement.
Updating yearly
Tanzania and Kenya park fees change every July. We recommend setting a calendar reminder to update both countries on July 1.
The fastest way to update is the bulk-edit dialog: filter by country and category, then enter new rates inline.
