Proposal model
How proposals relate to itineraries, and what the client sees.
A proposal in Ratiba is a public, branded, read-only view of an itinerary, designed for the client to read, react to, and accept.
Proposal vs itinerary
You do not "build" a proposal directly. You build an itinerary and then publish it as a proposal. Publishing produces:
- A public URL at
<your-subdomain>.ratiba.io/proposal/<id>(or your custom domain). - A snapshot of the itinerary as of publish time.
- A theme, branding, and any client-facing notes you've configured.
If you change the itinerary after publishing, the proposal does not update until you click Republish. This prevents accidental "the number changed!" surprises while the client is reviewing.
What the client sees
- The trip name, dates, and pax.
- A hero image and intro paragraph.
- A day-by-day breakdown with photos and descriptions.
- One clear total price (with optional per-person breakdown).
- Inclusions and exclusions.
- Your branding, theme, and contact info.
- An Accept button.
- A comment box for questions.
The client does not see:
- Supplier costs, individual line items, or your markup.
- Other clients' proposals or internal notes.
Themes
Each proposal can pick from one of the built-in themes (Classic, Editorial, Bold). Themes change typography, layout, and image treatment, not data. You can preview each one before sending.
Tracking
When a client opens a proposal, Ratiba records:
- First viewed (timestamp).
- Total views and last viewed (timestamp).
- Comments left.
- Acceptance.
You'll get an in-app notification and an email when any of these happen.
PDF export
If the client asks for a PDF, click Export PDF on the proposal page. It renders the same content as the web view but optimized for paper.
Acceptance
When the client clicks Accept, Ratiba:
- Sets the itinerary status to "accepted".
- Records the timestamp and (optionally) the client's typed signature.
- Sends you and the client an email confirmation.
- Stops further edits from auto-republishing.
You can then proceed to invoicing and operations as you do today.
